Meet Curiosity, NASA's next Mars rover!
The name for NASA's next Mars rover & the grand prize winner were announced on May 27, 2009.
Clara Ma, a 6th-grader from Lenexa, Kansas suggested the name,
Curiosity, for NASA's next Mars rover! Read the
winning essay. As the grand prize winner, Clara Ma will visit NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory to sign her the name on the real rover going to Mars!
Thirty SemiFinalists (10 from each grade group: K-3, 4-7, 8-12) won the opportunity to send a special message to the future to be placed on a chip carried by Curiosity, the Mars Science Laboratory rover. All thirty Semi-Finalists (10 from each grade group: K-3, 4-7, 8-12) received prizes related to Disney/Pixar's WALL-E movie.
